Post subject: User attributes are not updated even though credit card ...

User attributes is not updated even though credit card payment seems successful. First, you need to confirm that the credit card payment gateway (e.g. PayPal) is successful in updating FirstSpot through your firewall. Please refer to http://patronsoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2058 for more information. The key is that there should be a file named txn.log under FirstSpot\log directory.

If the file txn.log exists, the most likely issue is that you need to initialize the correct FirstSpot username attributes. Please note the following general rules:

1) For attributes that in your Shopping Cart Plan (i.e. that attributes that you want the end-user to purchase), make sure that attributes is initialized as non-null value (e.g. if your Shopping Cart Plan use "At a specific date and time" and "After x Minute(s)", initialize the user attribute "Conditions to suspend this account : At a specific date and time" to a past date). This will make sure FirstSpot redirects the user to Shopping Cart after login since the username's attribute has been exhausted.

2) For attributes that are NOT in your Shopping Cart Plan (e.g. continued from the above example, "Access Minutes"), you need to initialize the user attributes as unlimited (i.e. unchecked in the Configuration Manager UI). This ensure that this attribute will not limit the user account access. One common problem is in Self Sign-Up. You need to add the "Self sign-up" Plan (which is different than Shopping Cart Plan) with the correct user initialization. Do NOT set "Initial access minutes for self sign-up users" to 0 (should set to blank instead, which means unlimited) unless your Shopping Cart Plan uses the "Access Minutes" attribute.

[Note that Shopping Carts Plan is obsolete. It is replaced by Shopping Carts Item since v7.]

Note that following changes in v7:

1) The "Initial access minutes for self sign-up users" has been disabled. Please use Plan to initialize self sign-up users instead.

2) In Shopping Carts, administrator should use the new Shopping Carts Items to define the Shopping Carts behavior. We no longer support using Plan with Shopping Carts (unless for legacy v6 users).

More examples of using Self Sign-up with Shopping Carts (v7):

1) Shopping Carts Item attribute -> Access Minutes,
Self Sign-up Plan -> select "When access minutes are used up", set "initial time assigned (mins)" to 0

2) Shopping Carts Item attribute -> Expiry date and time, or After x minutes,
Self Sign-up Plan -> select "At a specific date and time", assign a past date. You can also use the default Plan "Self Sign-up Init".
