When you try to ping a work station connected to firstspot server from this server by it netbios name, the ping request is sent to firstspot.com [150.101.3.230]. what is this ip address coming from? Why request is not sent to 10.20.7.xxx as worksation ip adress? I'm using Mysql server and cannot connect to my db by server hostname. is this the reason? |

It's not related to MySQL. Because every client machine, is getting their default domain suffix assigned by FirstSpot DHCP server as firstspot.com; this helps instant keywords (e.g. typing 'logout' to sign off) to work. When you try to communicate to other machines by name, firstspot.com will be appended to the name. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

Clients connection is very slow and when i try to ping one of them by his hostname i'm routed to 150.101.3.230 ip. what is this IP address and why i have to be routed to it? And i think if clients connect pass through this route and this make connection slow. |

This is an issue with FirstSpot v2. This version of FirstSpot is not compatible with Netbios name (i.e. the computer name that one sees in My Network Places or Network Neighborhood). You may need to use IP directly instead.
This problem is resolved in FirstSpot v3. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |
