In scenario #2 which we are interested in using ODBC for authentication from a single database from remote locations, has Firstpost v3 been changed to act more like radius where it only needs to access the database for initial authentication and final accounting? In version 2 there needs to be constant access to the database which generates a lot a traffic and often causes the client to get disconnected with the message "database not available"? |

When you mention about FirstSpot constantly tries to access the database, I believe you are talking about the InfoBox. Several points to note:
1) we are trying to improve the database access performance in the final release of v3. We will give you more update on this later.
2) we will add a setting to let you change the refresh interval of the InfoBox (currently fixed at 1 minute) in the final release of v3. This can reduce the network traffic significantly.
3) You can actually disable InfoBox in the Configuration Manager altogether. Note that this will not affect FirstSpot login operation at all. In v3, the client can use Instant Keyword "infobox" to bring up the InfoBox again in case he wants to view his current login session information. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

Just to confirm that the final release of FirstSpot v3 will improve the performance of remote database access quite a bit. I strongly suggest that you try it out when it is available. The current schedule for the final release of FirstSpot v3 is mid-November. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |
