Post subject: Static Users - no logon?

Hi
I have found the answer to my question here; http://www.patronsoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=707

So I was wondering about requests for new features;
Would it be possible to enable automatic mapping of IP address or range, or of MAC Addresses to a Firstspot user account?

The scenario would be a rented office situation, where several machines going through Firstspot should have data transfer counted (and bandwidth throttle applied) based on a User Account, without the users having to actually log in. IE Firstspot recognises the IP or MAC and instead of just passing it through, automatically bills it to a particular user (which in this case would be the company, rather than an individual).

Would that be very difficult?

Otherwise a fantastic product that I am definately recommending and pushing to all of our new hotspot customers.

Thanks
Jon

We do have plan for something similar in the upcoming v4.

We will support:

1) use MAC as username - in that case, the user just need to enter password

2) in additional to above, if the password is set to "blank", the user does not need to login at all

Hope this can fit your requirements. Note that we don't have a confirmed schedule for v4 yet.
