Zywall 10 is the one we've gone through excessive testing. Cisco and Sonicwall should also work well. One thing worths noting is, the non-split VPN tunnel and routing configurartion at the VPN concentrator (or hub) is sometimes challenging. Let us know if you hit on any problems. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

Hi there...
would we need the same router at the Hotspot and the Central site?
The Zywall 10W is around 400 USD... is there any cheaper solution? In the slides your talking about 150 for the Hotspot and 300 for the central site...
Please list different compatible equipments. Thanks! |

you can consider getting the Zywall10 alone, without the "W" - wireless option. Then, adding a whatever price-competitive wireless AP to the LAN side of the Zywall will give you the same result as the expensive all-in-one model. _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

Hi Kevin,
thanks for your reply. Please answer my other question, too... would we need the same router on both sides?
The Zywall10 seems to be really difficult to find... are there any other options? If you have, please name product names. Thanks. |

I run scenario 3 over VPN using Nortel Contivity 1010s -- a little pricy, but they work great. If you buy them without the optional licenses (you don't need them anyway) they are a lot less expensive. $300-$500. |

dcgilpin, thanks for the information. BTW, where do you use the Nortel Contivity 1010? In the Hotspot site (i.e. edge) or in the centralized site (i.e. VPN concentrator)? _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |

I use it at both ends for a nailed up peer-to-peer VPN.
AP->HUB->[1010 VPN]-> FW<->Internet<->CoLoSite->[1010 VPN]->FS<->unfiltered Internet
As my edge locations grow I will need a bigger VPN concentrator box at my CoLo site. |
