yes, the client pc is set to "Obtain DNS server address automatically". And err..the config.ini file is very very long.

Okay, what you need to do is go to DHCP tab under Configuration Manager, set both "Preferred DNS server IP for the Private Network" and "Alternate DNS server IP for the Private Network" to 0.0.0.0, click save and then restart FirstSpot.

Once your FirstSpot is started, you need to refresh the IP setting in the client PC. You can either reboot the client PC, or issue the following commands:

ipconfig/release
ipconfig/renew

ok done that, but now theres no internet connection on the client side, and no authentication page. What do i need to do now?

Can you access FirstSpot login page from the client PC using URL http://192.168.1.10:5788 ?

Also, you might want to check out http://patronsoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1086 as a test.

BTW, your client network adapter does not look like a Wi-Fi card to me. Please elaborate.

no i cant access 192.168.1.10:5788 from the client pc.

And as for the NICs, I have tried on both, and neither is working.

Just to remind you that you need to have http:// in front of 192.168.1.10:5788, otherwise it won't work.

If you cannot access http://192.168.1.10:5788 but you can ping 192.168.1.10, maybe something wrong with your FirstSpot installation. Can you double-check that there is no personal firewall (e.g Windows Firewall) enabled in your FirstSpot machine? Or better yet, you can reinstall FirstSpot in a clean Windows (e.g. Windows + SP but no other software).

I cannot access http://192.168.1.10:5788 but I can ping 192.168.1.10. I followed all the procedures prior to the FirstSpot installation. Also, there isnt any firewall. About the re-installation, the pc has no software other than FirstSpot.

This is really strange. I still recommend you uninstall/reinstall FirstSpot (and try to keep the FirstSpot default settings as much as possible).

Also, make sure there is no Apache installed in your machine before you reinstall FirstSpot.
