|
|
Firstspot 6.0.1, new install (it is running in trial mode right now) on XP. Everything is working ok except that I want to manage it via a 3rd network card. Windows firewall is not running. Pentium 4 1.5GHz, 768MB RAM installed, typically at least 500MB RAM free in task manager.
On the third network
* firstspot: 192.168.200.127/255.255.255.0
* my computer: 192.168.200.13/255.255.255.0
MY PROBLEM: Ping, remote desktop, telnet, etc FROM 192.168.200.127 to 192.168.200.13 works. In the reverse direction, NONE of them work.
ARP is working correctly (obviously). There is no overlap of IP ranges. I have literally dozens of devices that I manage in this way, so I know that it works. I have already looked for duplicate IPs. FirstSpot firsthop driver is NOT bound to the 3rd network card. I have disabled "offload" processing on all cards, even 3rd card, again, first spot is working fine except that I can't form "inbound" connections on 3rd adapter.
Thank you for your assistance. |

Sorry, but I did search and read that topic before posting -- maybe you did not see my entire post. Anyway, I felt that it did not apply because
1) i was not overlapping ip ranges
2) I do not have multiple default gateways
3) the ip is unique
4) no static route is needed -- I can ping 200.13 from 200.127, just NOT the other way around
5) I have only 1 default gateway, that is the "outside" card, the 3rd card simply has an IP and mask and it is being accessed on the same LAN (i.e. adjacent computers)
so I conclude that this is not a supported setup. thank you. |

This is strange. FirstSpot really has no control if you unbind the FirstHop driver. Did you have other driver/anti-virus that might block the ping? Also, double-check whether you have define any Windows TCP/IP filtering rules ( see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;309798 ) _________________ ~ Patronsoft Limited ~ |
